I don’t know how many of you know who Jefferson Bethke is. But he’s a Christian author that I follow, and he’s written some really great books. He sent out an email to his mailing list this morning that I really needed. It encouraged me, and I hope it will encourage you tonight as well.
I’m not sure where you are reading this. Maybe on your phone, at work, on the subway, or on your laptop at a coffee shop. Wherever you are reading it though, I wanted to remind you of one of the most basic but life transforming truths made known to us in the scriptures.
And that is that you are loved.
Let that sink in.
In fact, you are even called the Beloved. That means, according to scripture, your very identity is shaped and molded by the fact you are loved. So many of us though don’t realize it. It’s like we have a huge feast on the table, but we keep starving right outside the home.
But today, this morning, will we choose to go inside? We are invited over and over and over again. Jesus is relentless in His pursuit of us. Will we sit with Him? Will we eat with Him? It’s only when we do that we can hear the true voice. The one before all the others. The one more powerful than all the others. The one more true than all the others.
Known. That’s what we are when we rest and wait on the voice of God. He sees us. He knows us. And He wants us. That’s good news.
