“We are not defined by our worst decisions. You aren’t just the sum of your past. You are also defined by the hope you have in the future.” -Thomas Christianson, “How I learned to let go of my past”
We’ve all felt it: the crushing weight of mistakes we’ve made, decisions that haunt us for years. We’ve all done dumb things, all have regrets and scars and things we just can’t fix. You don’t get a do-over. You can’t rewind. You just have to live with it. And that can be so hard.
But here’s the good news, friends: our pasts don’t define us. Our mistakes don’t define us. Our scars are not who we are. You are more than the sum of your past mistakes and the choices you’ve made. You’ve been bought, redeemed, and remade; and the hope you have in Christ is the new you. You are a child of the living God, Who loved you and gave Himself for you!
So stop letting the past define you. Stop letting your memories own you. Stop letting your scars get the best of you. And start living for the One Who set you free.
